I absolutely love to shoot home weddings. There’s something truly special about a wedding location being the garden where the bride used to play in as a child. It’s a place that is forever in the heart of the bride and her guests. One of my favourite weddings so far this year has been Alice and Ed’s.
It was a glorious summer’s day in Salisbury as I made my way to Alice’s parents house. The sun was shining and the location was perfectly and quintessentially English. Usually, the first thing I document is the bride getting ready, but it doesn’t have to be! Getting ready shots wasn’t Alice’s cup of tea (which is perfectly okay!), so I took the time to explore the pristine garden kept by Alice’s dad, Steven, and the beautifully decorated marquee that would be filled with celebrations later on in the day. I can’t express the beauty that the marquee held, (so I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves), but I was extremely impressed with the sandcastles which stood atop each table.
Next on the agenda was to meet Ed and his groomsmen at The Boot Inn, a charming 18th century pub in the village. As military lads, they sure knew how to take orders! So the obligatory groomsmen snaps were over and done with in a breeze, just in time to make our way to the picturesque church where we met the lance guards. Reams of guests arrived, piling into the quaint little church before the beautiful Alice pulled up in a handsome classic car, owned by a friend of the family. After a delightful ceremony, the newlyweds were greeted by the lance guards and an array of confetti before hopping into the wedding car to make their way back to the family home.
Back in the stunning gardens, guests were greeted by canapés and champagne while I got some group photos in. Soon enough it was time to cut the gorgeous floral cake, which Alice and Ed sliced with a lance before the emotional speeches were given. While everyone was milling around the garden, myself, Alice and Ed took a walk around the village where I got a good few romantic shots. Ready for food, everyone took their seats in the marquee enjoying the meal and a chit chat. After a sweet first dance, the dance floor filled up and the band entertained the night away. Huge congratulations to Alice and Ed on their perfect day!
