LISA & DOUG
Some lucky couples have had beautiful weather for their weddings this summer – including Lisa and Doug, who were married in the first week of July. This English-American couple (Lisa is the English half and Doug the American) enjoyed a hot and sunny day in Tisbury, Wiltshire earlier this summer.
The day began with the bride Lisa and her bridal party, as they prepared for the day at the charming Craftsman’s Cottage. Makeup artist Claire Bowring and hair stylist Abigail Constanza both worked their magic on Lisa and her ladies to perfect their looks for the day. Lisa’s beautiful Dahlia by Raimon Bundo dress completed her ensemble, and her bridesmaids were stunning in blush pink gowns from Phase Eight.
The groom was busy getting ready too, and I went to capture him getting buttoned up with his groomsmen once the bridal party were made up. As it was such a sunny day, all the guys were looking particularly dapper in their shades and suits (Cad and the Dandy for the Groom and The Yardsmen for the groomsmen).
With several different venues to cover, from the morning hideout to the ceremony and reception venues, there was a bit of moving about. Luckily, everything was close together, so it was easy to get between each location. The ceremony was outdoors at the wonderful Hatch House, on a large lawn with flowering borders. The guests quickly started to roll in and the ceremony was soon under way. Guitarist Luke Scurr provided the walk-on music as Doug eagerly awaited his bride. Flowers by Tidbury supplied the bouquets and boutonnieres for the day to tie everyone together.
After the beautiful (and hot!) nuptials, I took Lisa and Doug for a few photos by the wall of the garden. They were joined by their nearest and dearest for lots of congratulations – and Champagne. The flowering walls of the house and garden made a pretty backdrop for photos of the bride and groom, plus family and friends. I also whisked Lisa and Doug away for a bit more privacy and to use the beautifully green fields and blue sky, plus a sweet wooded area that led us to the reception venue.
These are just so amazing, thank you! I’ve spent hours already looking through them with a stupid grin on my face reliving the day. Sure I’ll spend many hours more 🙂 You’ve done an amazing job, lots of family and friends have already said how beautiful they are.
Thanks so much again, they’re perfect and really capture the happiness of the day;
Pythouse Kitchen Garden provided yet more beautiful flowers to complement the summer’s day. As the party got underway under a massive marquee, everyone was enjoying the incredible food provided by the venue – all cooked outdoors above a fire. PKG also made the cake, beautifully decorated with colourful blooms.
This particular Saturday also happened to be the day England played Sweden in the World Cup. Everyone managed to be on their best behaviour during the ceremony, but there was some sneaky catching up on the score at the reception! Luckily, England won – so it only added to the merriment.
The drink was flowing and the party in full swing, and as the sun went down I took Lisa and Doug for some final sunset photos before it got dark. Everyone moved inside for dancing as day turned into night. The guests enjoyed music from live band The Flyaways and gave me a break by taking care of their own photos with a fun photo booth from iBooths.
Working this Wiltshire wedding for a lovely family was a fantastic way to spend a sunny summer’s day – even in the extreme heat! I’m sure the guests all thought it was worth missing the football for too.
