Blonde bombshell Angharad & Tom her handsome hubby.

Angharad and Tom came to me after their original wedding photographer had to cancel – which was lucky for me! I was able to make sure they had a photographer for their special day, and they gave me the opportunity to spend the day working at beautiful Elmore Court in Stroud, Gloucestershire.

I’d been to this venue before and was even meant to shoot a wedding there last year, but it was cancelled at the last minute. So cancellations for both me and the happy couple brought us to Elmore Court! Angharad and Tom live close to me, so we quickly got their date booked in after I was recommended to them. I was really looking forward to shooting at Elmore Court at last.

This grand venue has only been open for weddings for the past five years or so, and it’s a bit of a quirky one. Not even the first really wet day after a hot and sunny summer could dampen the impact of the property and grounds. Angharad says that Elmore Court ticked all of their boxes, from tasteful decoration with room to add their own touches to the warm and friendly team.

I started the day with Angharad as she got ready with her bridesmaids in the venue’s stunning bedrooms. Lydia Withers from The Doll House did hair, while Harriet Cook from HC Brides took care of the makeup. Tom was readying himself for the day in one of the bedrooms too, so I spent some time with him and his groomsmen as they got dressed.

Hi Kerry,

Thank you so much Kerry, they are beautiful.

Angharad & Tom

The rain certainly didn’t dampen the joy of the day, but it did mean I had to think carefully about photos. It was too wet to do any outdoor shots after the ceremony, so we used the bright and airy ceremony room instead. Later, when it began to brighten up after the speeches, we were able to go outside and make use of the lovely grounds and the building’s exterior for some romantic pictures of the newlyweds. The brightened evening gave the function room, named the Gillyflower, the most beautiful glow, which made up for the rain.

There was no detail spared at this wedding, from the flowers by Suzanne’s Flowers and decor in the Gillyflower by Teapots and Tiaras. Tom and Angharad put a lot of focus on the music for their wedding too, choosing to have the Bristol String Quartet play at the ceremony and guitarist James McLean playing post-ceremony as everyone enjoyed canapes. Later in the evening, funk and soul band Soul Fresh got everyone on their feet and kept the party going.

The food and drink was all carefully chosen too, including an Italian-themed menu designed by the Elmore Court team (Angharad and Tom got engaged in Venice), wood-fired pizzas later in the evening, and wines from Vinotopia in Tetbury. They also opted for a non-traditional wedding “cake” – made of local cheeses!

This lovely couple were a delight to work with, and the venue was a fantastic place to spend the day. Angharad and Tom jetted off to the Maldives after their wedding, which I’m sure more than made up for the rain on the day.
