As the year draws to a close, it’s always good to have a little look back over the last 12 months to see what you’ve achieved. 2019 has been an incredible year for me. I photographed 42 weddings and worked with so many amazing people throughout the year. I have a head full of fantastic memories. Here’s a little review of what else I got up to in 2019!

When I look back at 2019 in brief snapshots, here are my first thoughts:

All the magical couples I got to work with. The little weddings and elopements. The engagement shoots. The family shoots. One fantastic post-wedding shoot because the wedding day was so wet, so we went back out the next day! There were so many amazing venues I had the opportunity to work at this year. The old favouritesWick Farm, Priston Mill, The Lost Orangery at Euridge Manor, Orchardleigh and the Roman BathsThe epic new venues: Prior Park, Avon Gorge Hotel, the Old Barn at Kelston Roundhill, Silk Mill in Frome, North Cadbury Court, Bignor Park,The Little Theatre in Bath, Grittleton House, Syrencot, Old Marylebone Town Hall and Pynes House.

I’m excited to be heading back to North Cadbury Court again in 2020. I’d love to also return to Bignor Park, Grittleton House and Pynes House if I get the opportunity!

There have been some amazing highlights. I got featured, once again, in Digital Photographer Magazine. This time I was asked about my tips for wedding photography success, which was great fun.

Some Thanks

First of all, thank you to my amazing second shooters – Mona Ali, Rich Howman and, of course, my daughter Alice, who puts up with me bossing her around all day and doesn’t complain (until the job is over, anyway!). I also loved seconding for both Mona and Rich, as well as the lovely Aga Hosking, too.

A huge thank you goes out to all the amazing couples I have worked with this year. You’ve all been an incredible bunch of people and the flurry of amazing comments and 5-star reviews has made my year!

Thank you to Sarah, the woman behind the words you’ve seen blogged here this year. Being dyslexic means blogging can be a challenge. But when you’ve got a copywriter supporting your business, it makes things much easier!

Thank you to all the other wonderful photographers who have passed work my way this year. The wedding photography community is a tight-knit one that I am proud to be a part of. In particular, thank you to James Fear who has been kindly passing his already booked dates my way.

On a personal note…

I am still loving wedding photography with every part of my being. From meeting new couples, planning the day and shooting the wedding right through to processing and delivering the images to you. There’s not one bit of it I’d change.

I’ve been making lots of effort, personally and physically, this year because lugging heavy equipment around is hard work! I’ve taken up yoga, which keeps me mindful as well as bendy (for all those tight spaces I have to fit into to get the perfect shot!) and I’m working hard at being present too. As we go into 2020, I’m making a conscious effort to be in the moment. This means I capture exactly what’s going on in front of me instead of worrying about what comes next on the schedule.

And for twenty twenty?

I have lots of exciting stuff coming in the New Year! Amazing Queensbury wedding albums and a new online gallery host are some of the ways you can expect better products and an incredible experience from your wedding photographer.

And while I’ve made the decision to stick with my Canon cameras rather than switching to Sony, I am also experimenting with a new idea to incorporate sound into your wedding photography package. Stay tuned for more on this!

I’ve already got an exciting list of weddings booked for 2020. I’m looking forward to all the new venues I’ll be shooting at: The Manor by the Lake, Caswell House, H-COO The Grange, Pennard House, The Jam Factory Oxford, The Barn at Upcote, St Audries Park, Barley Wood, Deer Park Country House, Berwick Lodge and the Carriage Hall at Plumtree are all on the list!

Dates are filling up fast but there are still a few available. I’d also love to get a booking for Babington House too. It’s a local venue I’d love to shoot at. So, if you’re planning a wedding at Babington House in 2020 and are still looking for a wedding photographer, you should get in touch. I’m offering an amazing deal to the first couple who book me for this venue!

My new venue discount for weddings in the Cotswolds, Bristol and Somerset is still available too. And a discount for any of my past couples wanting to book a family shoot is also available. So, get in touch if you’d like to take advantage! 2019 has been an incredible year and 2020 is going to be just as much fun. I cannot wait to get started with it!
