SARAH & LUKE
Bubbly bride Sarah and her handsome hubby Luke.
It was a beautiful Spring morning in March. It was dry, and the sun was poking through the clouds as I arrived at the magnificent wedding venue. Orchardleigh House is one of the most perfect venues I’ve photographed at. Orchardleigh is a gated, privately owned country estate located in the heart of Somerset, just ten miles from Bath. Nuzzled amongst 500 acres of parkland and lakes, the estate is made up of the main Orchardleigh House, The Walled Garden, two estate churches and a few cottages. The old house is not renovated, giving an authentic, aristocratic vibe to the day.
“I had a blast photographing Sarah and Luke’s wedding on a beautiful spring day and wish them a very happy marriage.”
The immediate wedding party stayed in the cottages the night before, so I met Luke and his groomsmen first to take some shots of the guys putting on their jackets and cufflinks before popping open the bubbly. While they relaxed and enjoyed the fizz, I headed to the main house where Sarah, her bridesmaids and her little flower girls were getting ready. A big part of the day was Sarah and Luke’s daughter and flower girl Lily, who was the reason why Sarah and Luke had to postpone their big day for another year after being together for seventeen! Once Sarah and her girls were made up and in their dresses, we headed across to the little church in the grounds where the guests (some who had travelled from America!) and Luke were patiently waiting. This is where Sarah’s nerves kicked in!
Sarah walked down the aisle with her brother who gave her away. It was an emotional, candlelit ceremony with lots of happy tears. Due to the church having no electricity, the organ was being hand pumped for optimum sound while hymns were sang!
Once vows were taken, rings exchanged and the first kiss made, the newlyweds headed to the little bridge where there was a beautiful confetti throw of pink rose petals. The couple then rode back to the house in a Rolls Royce and we got some lovely romantic shots in the sun. May I add here that Sarah’s bouquet was absolutely stunning, and was made by Lily Locket, a florist in Frome. I then headed into the opulent dining room where the light (and flowers) were perfect and got a few shots before getting my tanoid out to round up the guests for group photos.
After a tasty wedding breakfast, I took Sarah and Luke outside for some gorgeous sunset shots before going back inside for very emotional speeches. The night then began with lots of dancing, the traditional cigar, and plenty of bubbly. I had a blast photographing Sarah and Luke’s wedding on a beautiful spring day and wish them a very happy marriage.
“Thanks So much, we can’t stop looking at them! ”
